Happy Halloween!

This Halloween, treat yourself to a little treat from all of us here at Happiness is a Warm Gun.

I have found a nice little video on the internet that is definitely worth a watch.

If you are at all familiar with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon you will probably know about the "syncing up" with The Wizard of Oz. This famous mashup is easy to find anywhere online. However, in my inbox this past week I received a video from a fan of the blog that shows a new mash up video of the iconic album. However, The Wizard of Oz is now replaced with something that is as good (or in my personal opinion better) than the Wizard of Oz mash up.

I bring you.... The Dark Side of Planet Earth.

Obviously, this is a mash up of Dark Side of the Moon with the unedited video of Planet Earth.

Humpday Covers Presents: Double Shot!

This Humpday celebrate in style with a special double shot of covers.

First up, this week we have Hot Chip covering Joy Division's hit "Transmission"

Hot Chip takes their dance-y indie flavor and makes "Transmission" their own. The funky bass and crunchy beats added with some distorted vocals and the occasional steel drum all culminate in the end to provide a really cool outcome.

Second, we have Beach House covering Queen's classic "Play the Game".

Take the away the crooning Freddie Mercury and add Victoria Legrand's dreamy soft voice plus synths and tamborines and you will get a very different version of this Queen classic. This track is really different from the original version, but it really works for Beach House.

Sunday Shuffle: Built to Spill

This Sunday, the Sunday Shuffle brings us a track by Built To Spill.

If you like Pavement or Dinosaur Jr., you will really enjoy this band.

Built to Spill is a band that is based out of Boise, Idaho that was pretty popular on the indie circuit in the early 90s and still has a group of avid fans today. Built to Spill was often shadowed by the success of Pavement and was never fully appreciated in its time. Front man Doug Martsch led the band to create many fantastic albums, one of which was the 1999 album "Keep it Like A Secret". This album was dubbed the most "user friendly" album that Built to Spill had made.

Enjoy Built to Spill's track: Carry the Zero off of the album "Keep It Like A Secret" .
